Non-attachment is similar to neutrality, spiritually speaking š½
Nothing in this world will ever remain constant. Your pain, job, happiness, life, earth, or home. Everything is in a constant state of flux. Especially you, and since you are the centre of your universe, itās helpful to adopt a fluid, flexible approach to life.Ā
Non-attachment perplexed me for a while. But what I’ve come to learn is that it is an acknowledgement that everything changes no matter what, so the question becomes – can you learn to hold everything in life lightly? We come in empty handed, and we leave the same way. The only thing that lives on after our death is the progression of our soulās experience, and the impact/legacy we leave behind in the heart’s of people still alive.
Hanging on will bring certain suffering.Ā
So, the balance between āachievingā & non-attachment looks like:
ā¶ļøit’s OK to work towards something with a goal in mind, but donāt remain locked in to how that dream or vision will play out. Be open, and trust the mystical and perfect workings of the Universe.
ā¶ļønon-attachment means patience, love, compassion, and understanding. These are tricky to cultivate when you donāt want to let go. But try anyways.
ā¶ļøbe careful when your striving is putting blinders on you. Keep an open mind. The universe knows better than you.
ā¶ļøhave FUN! Itās not called the game of life for nothing.
ā¶ļøthink of your goal like a mystery egg. You keep it warm, love it, and you hope itās going to like you too when it hatches one day. One day it does crack open, and this little creature has other plans. Not all ideas you have are for you, so handle things lightly.
ā¶ļøit’s OK to wish for a partner or more money, but know this is fraught with danger. Because it implies that you are lacking something and that this outside stuff will make you happy. The reality is that if you cannot be happy as you are now, those things wonāt make you happy either. Not for long at least. And – if you don’t have it, you don’t need it. Remember, itās always now, & no matter where you go – there you are! So practice not attaching to āhow good life would be ifā¦ā & find a little humility.
ā¶ļøuse non-attachment to your benefit & donāt worry about achieving! Fear of rejection or failure holds a lot of people back. Can we hold that lightly too?Ā
